The majority of UK airguns, rimfire rifles and some smaller calibre centerfire rifles (.17, .17HMR, .22WMR, .22LR, .222Rem, .243Win) are usually 1/2 UNF (1/2x20 TPI), if threaded at all, and of course if not re-threaded.
The majority of larger calibers (.30>) are usually 1/2x28 UNEF or 5/8x24 as the next most common.
1/2-20 TPI = UNF ~ Unified National Fine thread.
1/2-28 TPI = UNEF ~ Unified National Extra Fine thread.
5/8-18 TPI = UNF ~ 18 threads per inch.
5/8-24 TPI = UNEF ~ 24 threads per inch.
5/8-24 TPI = many barrel cleaning solvent traps.
3/4-16 TPI = many metal oil filters (Chrysler, Ford, Jeep, etc).
13/16-16 TPI = other metal oil filters (AMC, GM, WIX etc).
Please always verify the adapter and the muzzle device you have are compatible, and are suitable for the calibre and always insure a perfect alignment before use.
