The latch has been designed to be opened easily, even with gloves.
They can also be used to organize some brands of 28, 20, and 12 gauge choke tubes with a maximum length of 2.4".

With a previous model 10 gauge shells fit tight but loosen up after a few uses, not yet confirmed if the same with these models.

The red boxes, once painted drab green, are similar to the M-40 GRENADES HE QTY·25 printed ammo boxes, used as a prop for the fragmentation grenades in the M41A pulse rifle, seen in the movie aliens.
The main difference is they have a different top of lid design, clip and hinge.
