The snap caps are safe and efficient use, reusable many times, shock and oil resistant.
The snap cap is unjustly neglected in the large range of shooting accessories.
Its function is crucial in protecting the firing pin when shooting in blank firing, for training, safe firearm handling and shooting without live cartridges, security during the cleaning of the guns, and trigger tension testing, to adjust trigger tension.
Shooting without cartridges could create problem with the firing pin, in fact this is designed to stop its run on the primer of the cartridge, whether central or ring, and if the cartridge is not in chamber, its motion is stopped in an end of the stroke that is not as expected by the designer.
In the long run this can cause deformation and breakages.
